Prima in STAMPtember!!

It's STAMPtember® over on the Simon Says Stamp blog! They have tons of exclusive new products just for this special event! I was so excited to try a few of them out! (Thank you, Stephanie!) You can also try them out with a special discount just for YOU! Use the code above for 20% all Prima products!

It's not too early to start getting Christmas card ideas ready, right? Good, I didn't think so! Besides, you'll want to start early with these so you can make them for everyone "special" on your list! Who wouldn't love to receive a little bit of Christmas magic in the mail? (Click "read more" below to see all the steps!)

You'll love creating this eco-friendly card using Prima's new "A Victorian Christmas" collection by Frank Garcia, and a bit of dazzling bling, all included with a fabulous shaker! Do not worry if you dislike sewing! There is another FUN way to create these. And there's a special secret inside the card! (I seem to only craft at night, so please ignore my night-time, low-quality pics for some of these steps!)

Directions:

1.  Collect your supplies! You'll need 2 sheets of "A Victorian Christmas" 6"x6" paper, gold vellum, a sheet of white copy paper, the ornament die, and clear package that measures at least 6"x6". (I used clear packaging from a Prima 6x6 stencil.)

2. Set the packaging right on the 6x6 paper of your choice. (This will be the front of the card.) Stitch around leaving a 2-3" opening (or more!) It is important to have two layers of plastic on the front in case one tears while filling. (If you really dislike stitching you could use the Becky Higgins Fuse Tool to seal the pockets! Then adhere it with a thin bead of liquid glue to the paper.)

3.  Trim the extra plastic off. Then score the "hang-tab" strip of paper at the top about 1/4" above the plastic. Fold over second piece of paper.

4. Stitch through all layers at the top. You now have a top-folding card.

5. Use a small spoon to add beads, glitters, and sequins to card inside. I added a total of about 4-5 teaspoons. Be careful not to tear plastic while filling!

6.  Carefully stitch the front pocket closed (pull inside paper away while stitching.)  Take a minute and enjoy shaking your new card!

7. Pull out your Christmas Ornament die (which is a SSS exclusive!) You need this. It is so beautiful! Die-cut with white copy paper and gold vellum. They are both fragile papers, but look amazing on a card!

8. I like to adhere intricate cuts with Easy-Tac. It's just a spray adhesive that is re-positionable. I spray the back of the die-cut inside a box in my garage, then run like crazy to my craft room. Actually you do have a few minutes before it sets up, so please do not do a crazy run! Adhere the white die-cut first right in the center of the card front.

9. Next add the gold die-cut slightly off-set from the white one.

10. Add two large and four small Victorian Christmas flowers as shown. This will also help stick the die-cuts down. When adhering to plastic use a strong adhesive!

11. If you're not a perfect sewer, or you tore a bit of the plastic, this step will help save your project! Simply cut one of Prima's new gold foil doilies into thirds. Add the top and bottom pieces as shown. It will also reinforce those seams.

12. Add twine to create two bows on top of the ornament.

13.  We're ready for the inside surprise! Using a permanent white ink, stamp your SSS exclusive Christmas greeting on another piece of clear packaging. Mine measured 3" across by 2" tall when complete...so give yourself a bit of extra room when you first start! I also stamped my greeting a few times to get perfect results. Tip: You can use Adirondack's Snow Cap ink if you heat set it (very, very gently or else the plastic will warp or melt.)

14. Once your ink is set, stitch around the stamped image creating a 3" wide x 2" tall pocket. Leave one end open. Fill with your favorite Prima Art Ingredients...and a few Victorian Christmas sequins for extra sparkle.

15. Stitch pocket shut, trim, and add to the inside of your card with adhesive.

Your card will look beautiful set on a shelf or....

...shake it up for a little bit of holiday magic!
